Meeting Purpose
The Society has been granted access by the Virgers to Winchester Cathedral from 6.30 to 8.30pm. The cost will be £5 per head payable in cash on the night to Sarah or beforehand at the Society Desk.
A Virger will meet us at the West Door at 6.30pm after Evensong. Unfortunately access needs to be in one group as the Virger will lock the door behind us, so if you not there by 6.30pm you may not get in.
Tripods are allowed but care needs to be taken with the Cathedral fabric when using them.
Joy Auty and Simon Newman are Official Cathedral Guides and both have volunteered to be on hand on the night to point out some of the more interesting details, graffiti and carvings that you may otherwise not spot and answer any questions on its history, monuments etc.
Simon also enjoys photography and is unofficially recording the Cathedral.
