8 Feb 2022 – Tony Smith
WPS Tony Smith – Sacred Waters
The Projects Group evening originally scheduled for 8 February has been postponed so that we can hold it in the venue formerly known as the Discovery Centre.
Instead, we have a real treat in store at the Hampshire Record Office when Tony Smith gives a talk on Sacred Waters.
Sacred Waters
According to Tony’s website
Sacred Waters is possibly the most comprehensive Digital Presentation account of Hindu Festivals available today.
The presentation will be peppered with interesting facts, anecdotes and experiences.
These are not holiday or travel photographs. Tony travelled to India specifically to record these events, from the inside amongst the pilgrims – with no apparent concern for his equipment.

- During the first lockdown, Tony set up, ran and recruited judges for a series of monthly photographic challenges to stimulate members to practise their photography even when we couldn’t meet. See mywinchester.net
8 Feb 2022 – Tony Smith ARPS DPAGB
Tony has been making a huge contribution to WPS for many years through his knowledgeable comments on Facebook and the quality of his images, mainly of people, taken in exotic locations including India, Vietnam, Cuba and Notting Hill.
When lockdown hit and travel was curtailed, Tony created some interesting and amusing lockdown selfies.
Tony achieved his ARPS with the 2009 panel shown below.
When smartphone photography became “a thing”, Tony established the popular WPS Smartphone Group. This ran for a few years until smartphone photography became so mainstream that a separate group wasn’t really needed.
