Welcome to the Winchester Photography Society’s 99th season, and a special welcome to you if you are a new member. I hope to get to know you during the year.
We aim to promote and encourage the enjoyment of all branches of photography through meetings, lectures, workshops and other activities, and hold an Annual Exhibition.
Our programme covers all that and more, from lectures and two League Competitions, to Special Interest Groups to help you get the most of your membership.
New for this season – Occasional Thursday online specials: talks from eminent photographers not available to present in person.
Please do contact me or any of the Committee if you have comments during the season. You can use the Contact Us form on this website.
Regards,
Tony Large
President Winchester Photographic Society
Founded in 1923, WPS is one of the largest clubs in the southern region.
Our membership covers all levels of photographic skills, from absolute beginners who have yet to purchase a camera, to those who travel the world producing sensational images of people and places, flora and fauna.
As well as guest lecturers and competitions at our weekly Tuesday meetings, we offer workshops, tutorials and outings to help members improve their skills.
Our Tuesday meetings are 7:30-10:00pm at the Winchester Arc in Jewry Street.
We welcome all feedback about the Society: questions and comments, compliments and suggestions, and reports of problems which we will try to fix as quickly as we can.
Please use the forms to contact a committee member or chose from a longer list of Society Officials.
The Society’s website is meant for our members, potential members, guests, other photographic clubs and anyone else who wants to find out who we are and what we do.
We hope this site makes it easy to find what you’re looking for and easy to use on tablets and smartphones.
We tried to preserve as much of the information as possible from the previous website, and we are still working to reorganise the content and navigation menus.
We’d love to hear what you think about it and how we can improve it. Use the Committee Contact form (under the Contact Us tab) to give feedback.
Explore the site using the navigation menu, search button, or the categories and tags links at the bottom of each page.
A very small amount of information is only visible to logged-in members.

We run two exhibitions every year.
The Annual Exhibition, a public exhibition showcasing the best of our members’ work, is usually held in May in the Winchester Discovery Centre.
The Winchester National Exhibition for digital photographic images is open to all photographers in the UK. It awards BPE crowns for accepted images.
For more about our Exhibitions, use the exhibition navigation sub-menu on the pages linked below
Our Annual Exhibitions in 2020 and 2021 were held as online events.
For both exhibitions, an online gallery of successful images was displayed on the Hampshire Cultural Trust website
The 2021 award winning and accepted images are still on display in our Annual Exhibition 2021 Gallery.
We regret that we had to cancel WNE for 2020.
WNE returned for 2021 and 2022.
