WPS London Outing 2022

Now Tuesday 23 August

WPS London Outing – Tuesday 23 August, 2022

Weather forecast: 25°, light cloud and a gentle breeze. Yes!

Memories of 2016: For those of us who struggle to remember what rain looks like, below are a couple of images from the 2016 London Photowalk when a lovely sunny afternoon was interrupted by a sudden downpour.

Details of the day

David McKibbin writes:

As most of you will be aware further rail strikes are planned for August including the original planned (20th August) date for this outing. After waiting in the hope of the strike being cancelled, the outing will now be a weekday. Apologies for any inconvenience and, if you were planning to come, I do hope you can still make it.

This has become an annual event (the 6th I think) and will once again be a full day covering several locations and offering a variety of photo opportunities particularly Architecture, Street, Abstract, Waterways, Reflections, Cityscapes, Art Installations etc. etc.

All aspects of the route are optional and spend as much or as little time as you like at each location but the outline plan is:

  • Catch the 08:56 from Winchester or other “off-peak” options, then the tube to Paddington. An off-peak Travelcard may be the best option.
  • Explore Paddington Station, Paddington Basin and Little Venice, lunch then travel via the new Elizabeth Line (perhaps hopping on & off en route) to North Greenwich.
  • Explore part of Greenwich Peninsula including the O2, the Tide Elevated Walkway, Art Installations, Emirates Airline and the new Design District.
  • Return via the Jubilee Line or Uber Boat (Thames Clippers) from North Greenwich to Waterloo for an optional early dinner.

A more detailed itinerary, the suggested route and photography ideas will be provided closer to the day and I hope many of you can join us.

David McKibbin.
