WPS Guest Speaker: Roger Hance FRPS AFIAP DPAGB BPE5*

Photographing Garden Wildlife

About Roger

Although his main interest is now Natural History, Roger’s impressive list of distinctions above masks the fact that he has been awarded FRPS in four different disciplines.

In 1990 he was awarded three Fellowships in the same year. These were in the Portrait, Applied and Pictorial categories.

He gained a fourth Fellowship in 1998 in the Natural History category with a panel of prints on British Fungi.

In 1990 he also won the ‘Amateur Photographer of the Year’ award in AP magazine, which was judged by the late Lord Patrick Litchfield.

He writes that he changed to the Olympus Micro Four Thirds system in late 2018 and noticed no discernible loss of quality. He says that the lightness and smaller size of the Olympus system has invigorated his photography.

We always ask our guest speakers whether we can record their talks for the benefit of members who were unable to attend.

Instead of giving us permission to record his talk, Roger referred members to his YouTube videos which cover the same subject and use many of the same images.
